I just recently went to Europe for vacation and flew Delta. My feelings are mixed on the airline, and the flight to Rome was enough to make me never want to choose Delta again. We flew on an old 767 that was the most uncomfortable plane I have ever been on--this was an 8 hour flight from Cincinnati and it didn't even have the movable headrests. TVs were few and far between, and the one I was closest to was a projector that did not properly project the image (6 inches off the screen). However, attendants offered free wine to those who were unable to see the TV and were quite accomodating throughout the entire flight. The meal was less than mediocre and I didn't sleep but 30 minutes on the plane. Now on the return from Paris, the plane was a much newer 777. The seats were maybe a little closer together, but it was not noticed because of the added comfort of the headrest. The staff seemed a little more friendly on this flight and were quite knowledgeable with languages, especially one who spoke French, German, English, and Italian. The meal was decent, and had I only flown on this plane I would have not hesitated to fly Delta all the time. I guess it's a coin toss on whether one will get a nice/new plane or an old/uncomfortable one.

In a 5 day period of a round trip flight, every one of the combined 4 Delta flights with connections done in Atlanta were delayed by an hour or more. These delays resulted in missing both the connection flights, one of which resulted in a required overnight stay in Atlanta before the next available flight. Delta also lost all out checked bags as well.
